Adriel you are absolutely correct. I am an AA and I wish I was a CRNA. And, my dissatisfaction with being an AA boils down to what you refer to in your post. Opportunity. For AA's opportunity is severely limited. Yea I guess there are about 16 states where AA's "can" work. But the cold hard truth is most of the states offer very few job opportunities. There may always be jobs in the homelands of GA & OH. But they arent growing. FL in my opinion will continue to be fertile for AA's but only because there is such a severe shortage of anesthesia providers per capita. As for other states there are only a handful of "real" jobs each in MO, AL, NC, and SC. TX will continue to develop but currently there are only a few places that will hire AA's. There are two places where AA's work in VT, one of which will actually offer you a job. There are two places an AA can work in WI. One place in NH, NM, and CO. And forget about MI & WV. CRNA's work anywhere they want in all 50. This is just my opinion of what I know of this job market. I am probably underestimating things. At least I hope so. Just look before you leap. Regret sucks.
