I never said we were physicians. And believe you me, before I was a CRNA, I didnt have attendings and PAs hovering over me with Tylenol orders. My docs actually trusted me. They knew what I was capable of and when the situation permitted itself, I "didn't need" orders from power-hungry people like you. I just did it, and my docs backed me up 110%. No questions asked; they trusted my ability. If you spent any surmountable amount of time in a level 1 trauma center you know this is true.
Ive been watching for this "wave" of licensure to occur and yet, it doesn't. How many states do you have now? 18. That's it. 36%. The best part is that AAs have been around since 69, only 4 years later than PAs....yet You, a PA, can get licensed in 100% of the states. So why didn't the AA profession take off too? Maybe its a safety issue....show me ONE- just ONE- published, creditable, accepted anesthesia source which says you AAs provide the same quality of care as CRNAs...JUST ONE IS ALL IM ASKING FOR. There isn't one. In 40 years, not a single published source has taken your angle. No has "proved" that you are a capable anesthesia provider. Not a single one....and we both know that the practice of medicine is based on publications, and not a single one.....so disappointing.
Utah is a great place. And I wouldn't be so sure about the bill passing...its failed twice now, and will continue to fail. The legislators don't listen to the physicians here. They don't accept the recommendations of the Utah medical association to allow AAs in our great state. They are smart individuals, and know that they will be putting patients at a higher risk than need be.
Please look me up, Ill take you to our Olympic ski resorts, and out to world class dining. You know, Vallejo isn't such a bad place either. You honestly think I'm dumb enough to not realize my IP address is published with my comments too? You must be dumber than you seem. But all is well that ends well.
Anyone who is reading and trying to decide between CRNA and AA, be a CRNA. You don't have to deal with the BS and questioning of ability that you get like this.
One last point...back to the states licensing AAs...even if you get to your magic number and get your states to believe in you, there will ALWAYS be one state you will never get into, and that is Louisiana. CRNAs will be (50 states @ 100%) vs AAs (49 states and 98%). The truth hurts sometimes.
