Bennie, Bennie, Bennie...Hey, no need to get your panties in a twist....
I love AAs. They are great health care providers. They are completely capable of delivering safe and effective anesthesia. They are an intricate part of the ACT. My beef is with individuals who think they know everything there is to know about anesthesia before they are even in school. Sure you may have done 20 or even 40 hours of anesthesia shadowing, but lets get real...that doesn't make these "wannabes" (as I referred to them earlier), experts. When you are auctually in school, lets talk about how may AAs are in each state. But, does that really even matter? What is knowing that information going to do for you? Get your hopes up? Ok then, if thats what you all want-for your hopes to be up-then go for it. The fact is that your profession is a growing one, while mine has been well established with years upon years of history. As I said before that doesn't make what you all do any less or better, its just a different route.
