The best part is, as an PA, I wrote orders for the ICU nurses - so they always have, and always will, follow others' orders. They could only give medicines or do any intervention with my or my attending's order, so I know very well what ICU prepared nurses are "capable of" before becoming CRNAs. They couldn't give a Tylenol without an order. A physician a CRNA is not - although they can play one when the public and others aren't looking. The public would be horrified to know that it was a nurse giving them anesthesia instead of an anesthesiologist.
Fortunately, AA's will be in Utah in the near future. And we will enjoy listening to the gnashing of teeth as another group of CRNA's falls. It's fun irritating the insecure! Watch as the wave of AA licensed states grows. I think I might even come out there and irritate a bunch of physician wanna-be's... in fact, Salt Lake City isn't too bad of an area, and I'll look you up when I get out there (thanks for the IP address you posted from!)
