AA or medical school? Archived Message

I have been trying to decide whether to attend AA school or medical school for a while now. My whole life, I thought I wanted to be an anesthesiologist. I ran into some problems in college; my father was sick and I had to take time off from school to take care of him. The years went by and when I was finally ready to apply to medical school at 25, I found out I was pregnant. Now, two years later, I am 27 years old and am a single mother to an 18 month old son.

I found out about the AA profession right around the time I had my son and was intreagued. I really think it will be something I will enjoy as an alternative to medical school. I have spent some time shaddowing AA's and like the work a lot. The two that I spoke with said that they really like their jobs. I still struggle with the question of if I am making the right decision, however.

If I were not a single mother, I would go to medical school, no question. I just don't see how I can become an anesthesiologist right now while raising a toddler by myself. I am not one of those super-smart people. I have to study A LOT to get good grades. I am not willing to sacrifice any part of my son's childhood or have him raised by strangers. (I don't have a lot of family nearby)

For those of you who are AA's, do you like your jobs? Do you ever feel that you would like to have been an anesthesiologist instead? Do you have plenty of time for your families?

I also wanted to mention that I have been accepted to two medical schools and to AA school (I applyed to both just in case). I just really need to make a decision SOON! I appreciate any advice!
