AA's are respected members of an anesthesia care team, there are only a few drawbacks that I can see. 1. The total dependence on an anesthesiologist, not due to inability on the AA part but by the way the position of an AA was created. 2. The geographic limitations, while there are more states open and more will open it is still a limited practice area for an AA.
If AA is rally what you want to do and you live in an area that uses AA's by all means go for it.
