I work in cooperation with a md, read surgeon 24/7. No supervision period. So I walk the walk. As for cooperation vs supervision the supervision you speak of is ONLY for billing purposes. If an error is made by by the CRNA in an act practice under either supervision or direction then they, the CRNA will be held accountable by law, for CRNA's are held to the exact same standards that anesthesiologists are in the delivery of an anesthetic. This is not sugar coating a thing. As for the lie that would be the title of the thread, I am sure you noticed it reading you can do it, right? SOOO to wrap it up for you in simple words, supervision or direction for a CRNA by an anesthesiologist is only for billing terms and then only for medicare purposes, CRNA's are held to the EXACT same standards by law. AA supervision is just that you work under an anesthesiologists license. Got it?
