Only adding one year to the curriculum is ridiculous. That doesn't really qualify for the normal requirements of a doctoral program. A real doctoral program would require lots of research and a dissertation. So it seems like it will take much longer than a single year.
Sounds like CRNAs are attempting to make themselves appear equal to doctors. However, by making this move to a doctorate degree, they will actually be hindering their own profession. Who would want to go the CRNA route if you can finish the MD route in about the same amount of time?
Clinically speaking, there will be very little benefit to upgrading to a doctorate degree. If this is true, then please fill me in on the motives for the change.
