Ask I posted above, according to the AANA website, only 20% of CRNAs work independently. Lets call those the apples.
I have not seen one AA here say they should be working independently, so clearly they are not competing for jobs with that 20%.
However, it is the other 80% that work with MDAs that is the issue. Those are the oranges.
It really does not matter IF a CRNA can work independently or not if they choose to work with MDAs. And those are the jobs the AAs will compete for. So lets stick to comparing oranges with oranges.
No study has been done comparing MDA/CRNA anesthesia care with MDA/AA care. Until one is done, any comment about one being better or worse than the other is just opinion with no scientific support.
