I think that we should all sit around a campfire and sing coumb by ya. I think that AA are here to stay and like our ASA buddies we as CRNA feel it is a threat. However, to think that as CRNA we are unable to quote receptors for anesthetic agents etc would be the same as having MDA quote them now. Anesthesia is a realm of science and art. Those of us able to practice will well. Those of us unable teach. This is the natural order of things. Your idea of degrading us as CRNA due to nursing backgrounds should take a step back. We have never abdicated the roll of MDA however many times that is overkill. We would hope that AA would abdicate their roll and become either RN or MD prior to undertaking the roll of anesthesia provider.
