I am opposed to CRNAs being more concerned for their own job security than they are for ensuring there is adequate anesthesia coverage in the USA in the future.
Hit them with facts and data about the impending problem and they come back with "AAs are just more money for the A$A."
The original definition of "professional" was someone who puts society's welfare above their own personal wants and desires. To fight to keep out AAs, one solution to the growing problem in anesthesia, because of money issues is NOT professional. In that regard, I would have to say MOST of my fellow CRNAs are not professional and are motivated by money more than anything else.
I personally do not care what road a person took, if they can give safe anesthesia that is all that matters.
