Another strategy is to "rehearse" the new habit in your head. Imagine yourself going through it, imagine all the barriers which will come up (like you deciding you simply must play one more game, or your inner brat telling you you can sleep in, etc.), and then -- most importantly -- imagine a solution for each barrier. When you have your solution prepared ahead of time, you're more likely to follow through on anything you want to achieve.
You (and Emma) really need your immune system and emotional system functioning at its best these days, so I applaud your decision to try to fix the sleep problem!
