So... the hairbrush comes up a lot in my writing. In the main season I've been updating [My Name is Anna] it's pretty much the only implement used [not counting the hand].

My reason might be different than others but for me, one reason is basically this: It is the only implement I've ever been spanked with. I haven't been much tbh and only for sort of play [ie/more bdsm-like] and never for 'real' (ie a 'real' punishment) but... I've never actually been smacked with any impact by anything other than hand or hairbrush, and I stuck to it [that said, I used the hairbrush in my first Arlene chapter and this was before then so... I think I just picked it then because it seemed like a simple enough thing].

I've been jokingly swatted with other things (a wooden spoon, a prop riding crop [think like a theatre prop for context though I believe it was a real one]. Oh I've also been kicked quite hard on the bum

I prefer to try and write about what I know when I can, and try and research or experiment when I don't (I've touched on talking about some of my 'experiments' in my author notes etc around my writing).

In my recent one-shot I actually wrote a scene with a wooden ruler (cause I wanted to try something different for the story) and I found it really difficult. I felt quite unsure how to describe the impact effect it would have and things and I... sort of didn't go into much descriptive detail at all other than noting that well, it presumably hurt a lot. I tried looking it up and stuff but basically could find any info other than... people think it hurts!

Anyway, I sort of like that a hairbrush is... a short hard thing that kind is quite... a discreet thing to have around. I suppose you could say that about wooden spoons and all sorts but... whatever. I also think the idea of a wooden hairbrush has a sort of old fashioned feel to it that I quite like.

But yes I think for me it's the 'easier to write about' that's largely causing me to have it around so much in my writing.

Also, honestly, I really like the spankings I write to be OTK. I'm not as into people bending over chairs and sofas and the like so I'm less likely to include longer implements where that would be required.

I reader of my stories who I won't identify here said to me in a message, when I showed her the recent kinklet story thingy I did with ash and alyx (a topic somewhere on here beginning with me saying I don't want to do dishes) that she felt it was a shame I didn't get the OTK spanking I was "clearly trolling for" and I was like I KNOW

So, there's that part to it as well.
