Different times, then. I will probably get flack but I believed in the hat policy. It looked professional, when you went in someones house and took it off it was like a sign of courtesy and if you had a situation that could turn ugly, taking it off showed you mean business. Plus, since I was short it gave me a little boost in stature. I got into a verbal argument with a supervisor (who was not mine, but a different district) over wearing the hat. It had been a windy night and it blew off earlier on a call where my sergeant was a witness so when he heard about my verbal reprimand he responded and took up for me.
