I read the FOP board and see through the personnel section how there are promotions, retirements and resignations and then as usual they try to fill that vacancy in the "crimes against toe nail unit". so again, this creates another opening to fill with forced overtime thus creating a safety issue due to lack of sleep or down time for road officers while, as usual the house mouse is oblivious to the problem and goes on with their charmed cushy inside job not giving one "SHIT" about those who are paying the price.
We all know but are afraid to say that the top position in the department was filled by someone who was a check in all the right boxes and probably was one of those "house mouses" I have spoken of. This department has only had a handful of chiefs who really cared about those who work the road. Bob Russell is the first name that comes to mind and then Tim Altomare is the second. If I missed one or two then my apologies to them.
Starting salary is $58,646 and maxed out is around $108,000. Based just on those numbers think of the overtime money that could be saved by cutting a few positions in the house mouse units. Bring back retired officers as contractual workers to fill some positions. All government thinks about is the almighty BUCK so there is something for them to think about since it involves $$$$$$$. They have done it in the recruitment, background investigations and accreditation sections and it seems to be working just fine budget wise.
