How times change. Way back in the dark ages when I was a patrol officer on Northern-3, there were 10 posts in Northern, and they were always filled. Having an open post was simply not acceptable. We had "umbrella cars" assigned to cover larger sections of the district, handle calls when the post cars were tied up, back up the post cars, transport prisoners, and anything else that needed to be done. For some reason Northern absorbed a big chunk of territory from the old Central district, which added another post that went out to Fort Smallwood park. I don't remember anybody breaking a sweat after it happened. We had enough officers to cover it with room to spare.
Sounds to me like things have changed, and not for the better.
