I still use Cardfile and it will cope with the the number of ship models of Paul's and Peter's collections combined. It was devised before Excel was even a glint in Bill Gates's eye! When 16 bit computing came along, I had to download a free upgrade devised by a computer geek but he had tweaked a version of Cardfile that was even older than the one I had started with, so the version I am running on my brand new gaming standard desktop using Windows 11 is incapable of printing an alphabetical list of all my models (the original version that I had could mail-merge) but the search facility works on any single word across all cards and I can print individual 6x4 paper record cards and run a complete manual index if I want to.
It still remains the ultimate solution that those people who think that Excel is clunky and pedantic should check out...
