John was a true Gentleman. He was the first 1250 collector I got to meet in person. He made a wide diversion in a cross-country trip to make a visit and see my (paltry) skills. We used to snail mail, and he would send photographs of his models (which I would copy and return). Gee, computers are a lot easier today;-).
I have a small collection of models -22, plus a master, but I had the privilege of consigning almost 150 models for him through eBay from 2014-18. (Initially he shipped direct, later he just sent me boxes of ships tied down with thread). Most, oddly enough, went to France. (There is one guy who has probably one, if not the largest, JY collections). I probably have photos of most somewhere. I also sold his metal models - he got paid for his Masters in production runs.

I do miss him greatly. Thanks for bringing it up.
