I’m certain that neither the G3 or NORMANDIE were mastered by John. I can’t tell about the CONSTELLATION (it’s not SOUTH DAKOTA a single funnel design), but I believe it’s the Hai model. I don’t know if he mastered it, or Hai’s seven funnel version.
Both Neptun and Hai used some masters from John but had to substantially rework them in order to be able to cast them. Building a master for casting requires entirely different techniques than simply scratch building, and John never learned to do it. So far as I am aware from talking with Rudi Kraus the only master of John’s that he actually used was the 1940 CLEMENCEAU, and that was significantly reworked. Previous Message
The models of Normandie and the G3 British battlecruiser are Navis Neptun models but the South Dakota model is probably the Youngerman/USA Model. If so, all three models are derived from Youngerman master models. John also made masters of the battlecruiser, Amagi, sister of Akagi. Amagi was destroyed by the Tokyo Earthquake while undergoing conversion to an aircraft carrier, so the Tosa-class battlecruiser, Kaga, was substituted as a carrier. Tosa's hull was used for trials. John's master of Amagi is now in my ownership and I have made models from John's master. The missing British N3 battleship is a Coastlines model but, as far as I know, Tosa was only made by Superior. John's master of Caracciolo was produced by Hai, but whether that was not completed by the Washington Treaty or by a lack of money in Italy at the end of WW1 is open to debate. Previous Message
the one on the right is the South Dakota class (only 1 stack - battlecruiser had 2 stacks), next is the G3 battlecruiser class? No idea for the one on the left.
In common, none built, only planned. Previous Message
