I TOO HAVE A EARLY GRADE 4 LC SMITH THAT IS NICHOL OR CHROME plated..i bought this gun from a fella that said it had been in his family since new..the seller gave me a letter that his dad had got from the lc smith company..he asked about the plating but they gave him no answer about it...it is very bright and no rust spots have apperaed on it...i believe they were factory done that is my opinion...charlie
