I found a record in the shipping ledgers of an L.C. Smith that shipped to author and sportsman Nash Buckingham.
Serial Number 91527 Specialty Grade Regular-weight 12 gauge 26-inch barrels Two triggers Extractors Started 3/15/26 Proofed and patterned 5/20/26 Finished 6/7/26
It was consigned to Nash Buckingham 6/14/26. Consignment was a way that the Hunter Arms Company would provide use of a shotgun to famous shooters and celebrities at no cost. These shotguns were returned to the factory after a season or two.
Buckingham returned the shotgun to Hunter Arms about 15 months later on 9/27/27.
The shotgun was sold to Frank Johnson three days later on 9/30/27.
Anyone know anything about Frank Johnson? Anyone know the current location of SN 91527? If you have a 12 gauge Specialty with 26-inch barrels, I suggest that you check the serial number.
