    Thanks for the information. I am currently using a rectangular crucible as described above as well as a temp ramp down from 1375 degrees F to 1150 degrees F to prevent warping. My main worry with warping is if anybody has made a plate or support for in between the side plates and one for the rear tang. Most of the receivers and parts I've done in the past are more stable in form. Does anyone know if it is best to quench the receiver tang end or hinge pin end to get the best colors. A lot of small things like this makes a big difference and I am unsure of how they were done at the factory. I really appreciate the help as I am in college and trying to learn as much as I can about these guns. I work on my LC Smiths in spare time and have learned a lot from this forum and others that I have met in having work done on these guns. Thanks, Zachary
