    Thanks for the suggestions. The receiver has been disassembled eg. the lower trigger plate has been removed. Does removing the trigger plate, (thereby removing the retaining bearing for the vertical leg), always allow the spring to cause this seizure? Does unloading the spring eliminate the binding of the top lever and the bolt? Have made several attempts to do this (short of making the jig that forces a screw against the spring) but can't get any movement of the spring. BTW, I am the "stock-maker", and a mechanical engineer who used to take things apart while in diapers to see how they work. This is a "learning project" for me, so great patience will be required for anyone offering assistance. I live in Huntsville, Alabama and sincerely appreciate the help.
