    Jerry:
I have neither experienced nor heard of the problem you are having. I shoot my Smith about 300 rounds a week in the summer and 200 a week in the winter and never have a problem while watching modern guns with all sorts of problems on the trap line. But these Smiths have been around for 50+ years so it's hard to tell how many rounds have been through them. As a trap gun is usually shot a great deal more than hunting guns it is conceivable that your first firing pin was well worn as either a new or a replacement pin. It sounds like the second pin was not of the correct temper. When you say the "pin was swelling at back and sticking out", did it move freely in the firing pin opening? Did it enlarge the opening? Does your new pin fit snugly in the opening with complete freedom of movement? I hope you can solve the problem with your new pin so you can keep shooting the gun. They are meant to be shot and a 5 or 6 bird improvement shouldn't be disregarded. Keep us posted.
