And Scalia did indeed do just as you said; but a decision in this instance was so clearly defined that the vote should have been 9 - 0, and not 5 - 4. What most folks don't understand amid all their rejoicing is that we had four justices who voted to disregard the US Constitution, the intent of our nations founders, and the Bill of Rights; had Kennedy, who was appointed by a Repubican (but can never be counted on) voted with the minority (as he's done so many times) to prevert the Bill of Rights, private gun ownership would soon become a thing of the past. Supreme court decisions can, and are reversed (remember this court once found slavery and segregation legal); so such a close decision as this, one that would forever change our ability to defend our homes and this nation against the tyranny of a federal government, should be frightening. Again, the Mayor Dailey's and anti-gun zealots of this nation are already publicly challenging this most recent decision; it failed to cover all the issues related to private gun ownership, and it will be challenged again and again in some form. If the political climate continues to change and move our government closer towards socialism, don't think for a minute that a couple of new liberal appointees to the Supreme Court can't find "grounds" to reverse this decision. Remember, true freedom requires eternal vigilance!
