Trigger Guard Thread Size Archived Message

Posted by David W on June 18, 2008, 4:45 pm, in reply to "Re: Parts"

I have a Longrange apart and decided to measure the diameter and threads. The diameter over the threads is .223, threads 28 tpi. I do not have a 1/4-28 die nut to see if that would fit, but I do have a 1/4-28 tap and it did not fit in the trigger plate housing. That hole is a through hole, the top part is threaded for 10-32 for the top tang screw to the trigger guard housing, and the bottom is larger for the trigger guard.

In Brophy's book Plans and Specifications, it lists the diameter of the piece with threads to be .220.
In my old Machinist's Handbook there is no #13-28 size or is there a #7-32 size for the loop (previous post).
This is not uncommon as these taps could be made for them.
