The fore end iron sn # matches the rest of the gun. It has the rectangular scutcheon around the release button which is the same as the picture in the book. The checkering is real sharp but the fore end wood just seems flatter than the picture in the new LC book. It has ejectors. I am going to inspect it again Monday. The frame and lock plates may have been silver, nickle or chrome plated. How much trouble will this be to get off and re case harden? The barrels are 28" and do not appear to have been cut off. Is there a way tto tell?
