Hello Jeb, welcome to the forum. If you go to the home page of this site, and click on the photo trail option, you'll be able to view some amazing restorative work performed on what appear to be hopeless cases. A new properly inletted stock for a sidelock Elsie is a daunting task for even an accomplished craftsman. There are folks out there that perform this work on a regular basis. A visit to the FAQ's section of this site will yield the names of candidates, and if you post where you're from, someone will likely chime in with the nearest tried and tested furniture maker. Not trying to insult your intelligence here but you mention that you do re-bluing work as a hobby. If you haven't had the pleasure of re-bluing an old SXS before, its imperative that the barrels are rust blued, as hot blueing will damage the rib soldering and potentially ruin the gun or render it unsafe. Good luck and it'd be great if you could post some before and after pictures of the project here on the forum. John
