Could not agree more, Z. It's a blend of crowding and interference in top media markets such as Chicago. Across the dial, "real" radio stations are having their listening areas reduced with all the "sandwiching" being done across this metro area. And for what, a clean translator listening area of some miles, but many more miles of interference and garbage diminishing what used to be very listenable ranges. Yes, yes, "protected contours" and the such, doesn't diminish the damages being done. Translators seem to work better in smaller to medium markets... more range for the translator!
