Re: need a adjustable cam sprocket for 1978 1.6
Are you asking how to degree a cam or install the bushing? If just the bushing than its simple. First degree the camshaft then get the bushing for the desirable offset. Drill the cam to the outside diameter of the bushing and install it into the gear. It should be a snug fit but the cam bolt will hold it in. The only reason I used the adjustable gear was that I found one cheap from a guy in Canada who gave up on a project. I got a Knife edged crank, Honda rods, steel oil pump, High rate valve springs, Felpro gasket kit, Solid adjustable lifters and an adjustable cam gear for $450.00. He built and engine and it fell apart in a week or so. Then he kind of gave up on the whole thing. I bought the parts and built my engine that now has 18,000 miles on it and is holding up fine with 18 psi boost. I beat the piss out of it and it sees 6800 rpms a couple times a day. It is now on its 4th oil change. If I bought a good turbo it would make sick horsepower. I am just using a T3 from a 150hp Thunderbird turbo coupe. I got it for free as my budget was depleted due to the $800 ross pistons. The newer turbos are sooooo much better and about $850 for a good garret roller bearing center. I have felt the before and after difference from a T3 like mine and a roller bearing garret gt2860r on my friends b18 Civic. A 75 HP increase at 2 more psi boost AMAZING difference.
