BUT millgirl, we have no idea what raises, incentives or bonuses are sitting inside the contracts of the higher level administrators. There was one report posted on the district's website, I posted it here myself. And it was only for a handful of people. There were no reports preceding that report, nor any after. Where are the salaries for the layer of administrators / supervisors / directors, or whatever, sitting inside the board office? I really do not take issue with the teacher's salaries. As long as they're earned, which isn't the case some of the time. There are subpar teachers flying under the radar, producing questionable results and the union keeps them protected. I get that. And many of you are forgetting, go back about eight to ten years ago, look at all the salaries of all those mentioned above. Teachers were breaking their necks to be hired into our district and our compensation package blew Edwardsville, Troy, Highland, Collinsville and other surrounding cities out of the water. Granite City School District was THEEEEEEE place to be. Our administrators were out earning the Edwardsville district administrators for years. And I believe that if one more person suggests I go to one of these referendum meetings I'm going lose it. I get what the referendum is about, I understand how it's going to raise my property taxes (yes, unlike an eighteen year old registered voter who has never paid a dollar in property taxes), I am listening to the THREATS loud and clear about the inevitable collapse of our school district. And YES, I have no problem insisting on TRUE ACCOUNTABILITY AND FULL DISCLOSURE of where the hell all our money has went for the last ten years. If anyone else thinks the taxpayers of this city deserve anything less, I question your intelligence.
