Mr. Greenwald, can you please explain to us why Administrators and teachers are accruing sick days in the first place?
Aren't you, the other administrators and teachers salaried employees? Meaning, if you need a day or more off for illness / family illness, your and their paychecks are not affected. Because your salaried.
Just like no overtime, if you work an extra twenty hours a week. You are salaried, so no overtime pay.
I understand why hourly union employees receive sick days...but salaried administrators and teachers?
TALK ABOUT A PERK!
You can take off when and however often you need, and your paycheck stays the same. Your "accrued sick days" balance isn't affected, so they just are racked up year after year after year, until you quit or retire?
And the district is not reporting these checks to the auditors, so they can no way know from year to year how much might be paid out?
Personally, I would like you to explain this to me, as a taxpayer.
As a property owner and taxpayer who you are asking more money from.
