I agree. I also support peaceful protests and not violence. My feeling is those who participate in looting, burning and shooting should be stopped by whatever means it takes to stop them...and that includes being stopped by police if they have to use weapons to do so, and my opinion is that those doing so (or caught in the area after being warned) should be charged with domestic terrorism or treason. Isn't that the same intent that was done on 9/11? That is, an attack with complete disregard for the safety and lives of Americans and destruction of property? For an American to be allowed to do this whether they're black, white or whatever...in the name of decency should not be tolerated. Yep, you got a problem with some social issue you have a right to peacefully assemble and make your issues known (just like all of us have the right to their opinions here at GCG)...our constitution is clear on this...but you don't have the right to riot, burn, loot or shoot someone because of it. And those that do should be stopped. And I might add that getting in someone's face and cursing them or threatening them with no physical contact is a tactic to encourage violence and translates as a violent act. Some might disagree with that, but I'd ask what else could such a motive be? Anyway, charging these violent people with acts of domestic terrorism or treason (and fittingly carrying out of sentencing) might help.
