your words reveal a thinly veiled string of racist logic that i find disgusting...and typical of the ole GCG crowd. there are countless videos of peaceful protests...of people shot with rubber bullets as they prayed in peace...of celebrities being arrested as they peacefully protested...and there is a deep sense of injustice that far exceeds mike brown or ferguson. there is a war in the street between the people of a community vs armed authority figures who are suspected of killing one too many people...so they have every right to hate the police and say whatever they want to them. they are angry. they have every right to be angry. last night they protested at wal-mart in solidarity with the family of a victim of police brutality in Ohio where a man was shot and murdered for carrying a BB gun in a wal-mart store (that he was getting ready to purchase.) why this story? because the killer cop was never indicted, despite video evidence that clearly contradicted his story. people fear the same will happen here. All of the protests are connected to a grand narrative against the way minorities are disproportionately the victims of a for-profit prison industry and racial profiling in a country with the largest prison population on earth. so do i agree with all of their forms of protest? no. but do i understand the greater issue and empathize with their disillusionment? of course. this term "disillusionment" is riddled throughout black history, and was used often in the 60's by radical black groups who sought to end segregation. STL is just the kind of place that refuses to let this story fade into obscurity, and the pursuit of justice concerning mike brown has become synonymous with EVERY shooting and murder by police...the people protesting have made very clear demands and i do not think they are asking for much. put a special prosecuting attorney on the case, take it to court, and let the court decide his innocence/guilt. the world is watching.
