We are already paying 8.35% in Granite City, and in some areas (uptown) 9.1%. 10%, just in sales tax, is pretty steep on large purchases. I could see someone going outside the county to save on those larger purchases. The above statement is one of my biggest concerns about this, wrong time for a tax increase, it's time to force the state to pay our districts what they owe them. The state has the money, they have just spent it on everything but what's truly important....
