Bright colors scare me, because someone has to be good to work around them and incorporate them in their design.

they do me as well. most clothes i own are earthy in color - i like brown shirts alot for some reason...

and working with bright colors is a challenge.

mind you the painting is only 2 days in - so we have LOTS of work to do still, and many of the colors will be blended better...hell it might not look anything like that 2 months from now...

we are still trying to carve out the shapes...and working with the contrast of chemical bright colors.

we have done it in the past with some success - but we have also failed (ie - bill cosby is a painting we both dislike and consider a failed attempt to some degree)

but i think you tapped into something critical...

and althought you may not consider yourself a fan of "modern" art - it is the only art that can exist.

i have re-created the works of master painters - i have painted countless skies and nature scenes - i used to go to the levee and paint what i saw - i have studied the masters extensively - and i was taught by my greatest mentor that the best artist in the world is the CAMERA.

realism is dead - and as an artist i have little appreciation for an artist who practices this way exclusively - it lacks creativity.

a modern artist must create objects and spaces that can not be seen in the natural world - we must create that which is appealling to the eye and a construct of the mind.

some incorporate realism into their designs - like many surrealist painters...and like i have recently toyed with in my latest independent painting project...

but what edison art is doing with this project is attempting to create depth and space, in an ordered fashion...the 3 canvases will go together in a variety of ways, their measurements are precise and they themselves create a composition - but the colors within those shapes are a touch of us - chaos.
