I said last message that unless there were any specific questions, I was making my last post on this subject.

However it now appears that a sixth (6th) CRNA has had to surrender his license over this mess. As they investigated the hepatitis issue, the investigators found a major discrepancy in the records as to anesthesia time. The CRNA wrote that he was still giving care while another record showed the patient had been in the Recovery area for a while and the RN was taking out the IV. This constitutes insurance and/or Medicare fraud. The surrender of the license will save him from actions from the Nevada State Board of Nursing but not from criminal charges nor from civil actions.

So that is six CRNAs who are no longer practicing. They also had to surrender their RN licenses. That is over six years of school for each is now thrown out the window.

While some of my fellow CRNAs have gone on and on ad nauseaum about their ability to practice independently, these six CRNAs certainly did not show any independence. They did as they were told and one even said he was just following orders. It does not matter the route you go or the schooling you receive, if you are not willing to stand up and speak out when something is being down wrong or is flat out illegal, you are not a benefit to the patient.
