There are now 14 states that have "opted out" of physician supervision for CRNAs. That IS Licensed Independent Practice, Sir.
Be that as it may, I believe what the other author was alluding to was the equality of reimbursement...the parity between pay for providers. But even if that were not the case, when it comes to providing anesthesia services, there are many, many examples of CRNAs being awarded contracts to provide services vs. the 'ologist getting the contract....and when the 'ologist gets a contract, it isn't for their work....'cause they're going to hire a CRNA or AA to sit on the stool.....there are very, very few 'ologists who do their own cases any more. The young ones want their Porsche and a tee time and get plenty pissed if they're stable of "physician extenders" bothers them after they leave the hospital.
