I worked as a buyer in a hospital in Pomona, CA and one of the departments I was assigned to was Dietary. They prepared very few things from scratch in the kitchens. Most of the things served were already seasoned or cooked or otherwise prepared in some way. All the workers had to do was to cook them or heat them. I was appalled when I realized it.

When I was having my first 3 babies, the food was absolutely delicious. At Good Samaritan Hospital in L.A. with Andrea, #3, they served a fresh soup every day for dinner as a first course. I remember ordering it every time because each day (I was in there 4 days) was different and absolutely scrumptious. Not anything like that since in the hospitals I've been in.
