Not really an allowance. If I did the windows or some other particular task, Dad would give me 50 cents or whatever he had. I babysat if I needed cash. But they bought things I really needed and couldn't do without.

My poor kids were paid, but they worked different things paid different amounts. I say 'poor' because we paid them what our folks had paid them, and I know now they figured we were cheap!
