Never had any kind of cool air until 1st hubs and I bought a swamp cooler for the living room. Then in our first house in 1975 had a wall mount A/C in the family room and cooled of the front part of the house. Not the back part which were the bathrooms and four bedrooms. Over time I had ceiling fans put in each bedroom. There was one in the family room as well.

For A/C in the car I don't remember any until we bought our Van in 1983. After that I always had one in my cars. I had a new heating/air conditioner unit installed in my California house after I moved here. The heater finally went out, so since I had to replace it, I added the A/C to it as the vents were already there.

Here, where I live in Arizona, you couldn't survive without A/C. I know I couldn't. People used to though.
