I grew up poor as well, Pattie. I was just telling my grandson yesterday that my younger brother and I felt the same way, we didn't really know we were poor until we got to junior high and especially high school. That's when I, especially noticed the difference. That's when I got after school jobs so I could buy clothes that would match whatever the other girls were wearing. Shoes too.

I try not to pay attention to prices at the market since I shop on-line. I usually have a list of what I need so that's what I get. As far as chips vs potatoes, I'd take the potatoes although I wouldn't get 10 lbs. They'd sprout before I could use them up.
