First day of first grade Tony Inaba cried and they had to go get his older sister, who was in 5th grade to comfort him.
Later, at a high school reunion I reminded him about it, and he laughed. He said he couldn't even remember why he was crying.
Rene' teaches kindergarten. She says now, they have pre-school, transition to kindergarten and kindergarten. It's all to do with age requirements and ready enough for kindergarten.
What happened to kindergarten being a time for a child to learn to be away from the parents and to socialize? My girls mostly played, got read to, slowing learned the alphabet and took naps. They don't even nap any more.
