#1. open windows on none windy side of your house a couple of inches, this will help push out the heat as it builds up in your house. If you have a window fan, put that in one of the none wind windows and turn the fan so it blows outwards.
#2. turn your house into a cave by shutting all blinds and curtains, use bath towels or bedsheets over the windows to help keep sun out. Even a little bit of sun coming in can heat your house up fast. Even with an air conditioner, I do this to keep the air conditioner from working as hard with cooling off my place. I have black out curtains so my place right now really does feel like a cave.
#3. freeze a bunch of milk carton or jugs of water, along with any other container you can find to put water in. When you feel really hot, put a few of those frozen water containers on a tray directly in front of a fan, then sit in front of that. If you don't have room in your freezer to freeze water, even very cold water out of the tap in a shallow pan with a fan behind it will cool you off a little bit.
I woke up to 85 degrees, going up to 100 today and tomrrow is suppose to be the same but like I said, I finally have a working air conditioner, I plan on sitting in front ofit all day !
