Hi, Our own van ! It's currently non start with the only code 18072 [P1664] PD Injector Control circuit Malfunction Permanent. It was running rough and picking up individual injector codes prior so we have renewed the Main injector harness within the rocker cover which sorted it but now 50 miles later we have non start and this trouble code? It actually briefly started ran rough, cut out,re started and as we touched around the engine loom by the injector harness twist plug block on the cylinder head re cut out, so we have renewed this connector to be safe and checked surrounding cables which look fine.Still no start. It's as if the whole system has just shut down, the code clears but returns on cranking, good battery volts and rpm signal 200rpm cranking. Have checked loom and connections, fuses, Not sure if the power relay 109 could cause this? Could do with some basic specs/tips on this PD injection system ie what voltage should I see at the injectors/loom, my next thoughts are pin out at the Engine ECU, hoping the autovista data will be good enough? I am a ware the starting issues these used to face with fuel/heads/cams etc, this one has done 40k with all the above good.

"Have checked loom and connections, fuses," how? load tested etc ? Do you have power to one side of the injectors ign, on? What info systems are you using ?
Kev.

Hi Kevin, Hope your staying safe! I have physically pulled the loom, fuses apart and checked plus load tested. Was beginning to doubt myself so jumped straight in. I suspect the Engine Ecu has shut down as I am only seeing under 2 volts at the injector common feed, that's why I wondered about the power relay. I am using a T5 workshop manual in combination with autovista and info from the net including Ross Tech etc. Having had another deeper look today it appears the injector wiring loom maybe slightly offset to the harness plug so will strip that out again. It doesnt make sense as it drove for about 50 odd miles with it like that, wondering if it may have just made enough contact to run but gave up despite the connector clicking fully home? Worth a look anyway, from what I can make out if the ECU sees incorrect signals, resistances back from the injectors it will shut them all down? I will then have to do a pin out test at the ECU hoping I have the correct info. Thanks

I may be wrong but i think i have seen comments saying if you try electrically disconnecting one injector at a time it may well start on the remaining cylinders when you find the faulty injector which caused the shut down.

Hi Guys, Thanks for your replies, Got to the bottom of it today, turned out to be a faulty/ poorly assembled new injector wiring loom. One of the pins was pushing back as the connection made, wasn't able to see it until pin out check done at the ECU and cam cover removed. You buy genuine for a reason but still we get kicked in the!!!!!! Lot of wasted time!
