Ford S-Max 2.0 2007 - DPF Mill on, will not clear. Code P2463, P242F

Year of Manufacture *: 2007 Engine Size and Code *: 2.0 ( Optional ) Scanner Used: Foxwell NT644/Launch X431 ( Optional) Fault Codes: P2463/P242F
Hi everybody,
History.
Vehicle presented 5 months ago with a completely blocked DPF (Had to be towed)
The sensing pipes had failed (Not sure if this was cause or effect)
DPF was replaced along with sensing tubes and a full service. All fault codes cleared successfully.
All was fine until last week. MIL on and sudden loss of performance.
When I saw car, The sump was heavily contaminated with fuel (Probably several litres or more, IE multiple regen attempts)
The PCM reported the last successful regen at 160 miles previously with a failed one more recently.
I have changed the oil, reset the service counter and carried out a "limited" attempt to de-soot the DPF (On the Ford it is possible to fit it back to front and rev the engine a bit, a bit messy but did a reasonable job! )
However, the two above faults (Relating to DPF Soot/Ash contamination) simply will not clear.
The light goes out and immediately comes back on again even when the engine isn't running.
I didn't have this difficulty last time even when the car was a non-runner.
So, what is happening here and how can I resolve it?
Oh, and another thing, While the Foxwell does cover DPF functions on a wide range of manufacturers, (And is actually an astonishingly capable tool for the £250 that I paid for it. Knocks my older and considerably more expensive tools into a parallel universe!) Bizarrely, it doesn't cover Ford. ATM I do not have the means to force a regen on Fords. Anybody suggest an inexpensive tool that might allow me to do this?
Regards,
Paul

May be the only way to clear codes relating to 'ash' would be to 'tell' the system that it has a new DPF. Ash is not removed by but the result of regeneration so Ash limit reached would be end of DPF life, in theory any way.
Looks like you have an underlying fault to find next.
Was it a genuine DPF ? what sort of driving is it used for ?
Re: Ford S-Max-DPF Mill on, will not clear. DPF issues
unplug the MAF with the engine running , then check you have a code for it. if you do ignition on engine not running and clear the codes.
this works for the 1600 ford 1.6 diesels, it may work for you.
if the DPF is a factory item then you have to ask why its got blocked in 5 months , EGR fault, ETC
if its a after market one the same thought aplies however it may be that its just piece of crap to start with.
if you can not get the pressure readings below 4 psi at WOT in second/third gear then the light will come back on.
if you can take the DPF out of the car and wash it through with a pressure washer , i find this works very well with soot and ash,
if there is a cat at one end wash out through the other end DO NOT USE PRESSURE THE CAT END it will break it up and the whole thing is useless then.
you can use the car to dry it out once its drained for 20 mins just leave the DPF unbolted on the back flange for 20 mins while the engine is running at 2000 i find this method much more favourable on a factory DPF, rather than fitting a after market piece of crap that will haunt you for ever
Re: Ford S-Max-DPF Mill on, will not clear. DPF issues
Hello Paul, as said above the ash content is a calculated (guess) of what is contained in the DPF from the amount of re-gens carried out, so you will need to tell ECU that a new DPF has been fitted. I've been using "Tunap" cleaning kit recently (would rather clean a genuine DPF than fit an aftermarket one) & found it to be brilliant. Always worth cleaning the EGR valve too.
Re: Ford S-Max-DPF Mill on, will not clear. DPF issues
I've had a similar fault with dpf codes not clearing on a Ford Focus. Try un-plugging the air flow meter then do a code read. Plug the afm back in and then clear the codes - you should find that they all disappear.
This has worked on two vehicles now - just don't ask me why!
