Vauxhall Astra 1.9 CDTi Z19DTH 2009 - Breakdown then non-start, multiple codes - Fixed #

Engine Size and Code *: 1.9 CDTI Z19DTH
( Optional ) ECU Type: EDC 16
( Optional ) Scanner Used: Autocom and ACR4 G2
( Optional) Fault Codes: 7 as listed

I would appreciate any thoughts on this vehicle.

History: Bought 5 months ago, had a new gear box soon after and last week remapped by me. The remap was carried out to replace a previous remap by someone else which was causing high fuel consumption. Vehicle broke down about one week later and recovered as a non-start.

Investigations to date:

Fault Codes stored:

PO243 Boost Pressure Valve low voltage
PO400 EGR
PO30 O2 sensor
P1125* Throttle Actuator Feed Back
PO638 Throttle Control Solenoid valve low
Voltage
PO2075* Swirl Level Sensor voltage high
PO660 Swirl level control open circuit

The two fault codes asterisked will clear down but re-appear on cranking. The other 5 will not clear down.

Various fuses and relays checked ok. Engine and chassis earths checked. ECU opened for signs of contamination and the relevant connectors.

The only incorrect live readings are:

Fuel Temp Sensor -40c
Oil temp sensor -40c
Fuel pressure 0.65 mpa. With relay bridged fuel pressure is correct at 37 mpa but no start.

As I was the last one "to touch it" the finger is being pointed at me.

Would be grateful for any advice.

So what voltages do you have at the components under question?

I assume that it had a clean bill of health before you re-mapped it?

You could always prove it was not the map by putting the old one back on it

Just had a quick look at a wiring diagram and looks like all them components share the same supply.

Chris, you were correct. After eventually acquiring a wiring diagram it was found that fuse 21 supplied the feed to the components in question had blown. The car started by providing direct feed to the fuel pump and replaced fuse 21. After a short run fuse 21 blew again. Extensive investigation of the loom behind the gear box found it was damaged due to being incorrectly secured after the gear box was replaced. This was repaired and now all is well.

I am now retired and off to sunny climes. I would like to take this opportunity to say thanks to UKAT and its members for the help and support I have received over the years.

Thanks Graham,

Retiring to the Philippines. Yes, absolutely right. Looking at a place a few yards from the beach. Rental £25 pm! There is a big garage nearby who I believe are a bit limited with diagnostic equipment and have to send vehicles to "The big city" 2 hours away. Might pop round there in mornings with my Autocom and then lay on the beach in the afternoon. Tiger beer is £1 per bottle. Local stuff a bit cheaper. Fillipinas plentiful. Might just enjoy it!

Old? I shall probably be switching on my lap top on in the afternoon laying on a beach (assuming I can get internet connection) following the threads on UKAT with a Tiger Beer in one hand and a Filipina in the other and Autocom on standby. Techs never get old. They just need a bit more rest.
