Vauxhall Zafira 1.9DT 2009 Auto - Code P2279, randomly will not rev #

Year of Manufacture *: 2009
Engine Size and Code *: 1.9 DT
( Optional ) Scanner Used: Tech 2
( Optional) Fault Codes: P2279

Hi guys got this Zafira, first start is fine will drive like a dream. randomly when you turn off engine and restart it will not rev up that well, if you give it a boot full it will clear and drive fine again, code P2279 will be stored when it wont rev up straight away.
Parts Fitted.
EGR Valve
Throttle body ( All Genuine )
Turbo
Mass Air Flow

Dpf Pressure is 0.2 kpa, saturation is 2%
What i notice is MAF is 44-45 kpa when running well, but gets pulled down to 18kpa when it wont rev, Pipes and manifold have been smoke tested, pipe work and manifold removed and checked for blockages.Inter cooler by passed to check it wasn't blocked. Complete exhaust and dpf removed just to double check no blockages, same thing happens........

Any Help would be appreciated.

Has this got an air intake flap on manifold?? is it operating correctly when fault is present?

The intake flap is part of the throttle body, flap is open when fault occurs..

Christ, that parts list must go over 2K, have you checked with your local dealer if a software update is available for this motor ??

Is it passing the swirl flap actuator test with tech 2 ?

David, where are you performing the smoke test?
Remove the maf and test at the main pipe to turbo, this will confirm the whole intake curcuit, see what pressure and flow you get there, leave ignition on.

It's clear there is not enough flow and is either restricted or bled off, egr operating at 100% dc will give you your reading of 18kg/h at idle, so double check it's closing fully, put a plate between to confirm, but skoke testing at the maf will show the same.

Also, have you personally loaded the latest software and not just checked it's the latest, just incase someone has done a bad egr/dpf removal?

Also, have a look in programming, some newer stuff especially dpf models require adation resets for egr and maf and a bunch of other stuff.

Hi Chris

i smoked from the maf, no leaks and flow ok.

Fault is very intermittent, software was loaded by myself.

Car had a remapp previously, by another garage to remove dpf/egr out..

Live data shows new egr is closing.

Will blank off egr when back at work.

All resets performed, egr/maf

Do you think it could be a wiring issue to the air flow meter or an issue with the signal wire to the ecu? What happens when you disconnected the flow meter?
