Vauxhall Y20DTH 2002 - Fuel pump programming - Resolved #

Year of Manufacture *: 2002
Engine Size and Code *: Y20dth
( Optional ) Scanner Used: opcom or tech 2

I have a customer who has fitted a second hand engine into this vectra c and wants me to program it.
We have the pin code for the car but looking at the opcom help file it says i need the pin for the car the engine came out of?

Is this the case and is there a way around it?
( short of putting the old pump back on )

get your op-com . Plug in to the car , connect to the engine - get vin number from this ecu (must be diferent than the one on the car). Then contact your pin code supplier(dealer) to obtain pin code for that vin number. Then logout psg16 using that pin . Then program the pump in using the car pin. Car should start. sorry mate but I can't be precise as I just don't remember exactly what I done but I had the same scenario as you have.

Iirc you don't need the securiy code for the donor pump, I think I just went into immobikiser (may have been cim) and selected engine ecu installed or kfmay hqve been cim and engine ecu installed.

I just then entered the cars security code and followed any on screen prompts on tech 2.

You know when its done as the electronic warning light stops flashing.

It all depends on wether the pump was reset before fitting plus was it off the same vehicle or one that used a different network to "com" on.

If it was not reset and NEEDS to be then there is always plan "B"

As far as i know the donor engine came straight from the scrapyard so most likely hasnt been reset.
I will be having a look at this in the morning so will update then.

Hi Ed. I have done one quite a while ago, I had the pin codes for both pumps, I reset the pump with its own code and programmed it back up with the vehicle code.

I wouldn't have thought it would work any other way with Tech 2 but its always worth a try.

Hi Tony,

You are right, its the same with Tech 2 & Vaux-Com.

The problems start when you don't know what vehicle the donor pump came from.

That's when you have to extract the Pin code from the PSG5 controller via plan "B"

The security code we had for this car was the wrong one, didnt know and couldnt get the code for the donor pump so the owner decided to have the old pump refitted.
Not exactly the outcome i was hoping for buy at least its back on the road.
