Seat Leon 2.0 TDi BKD 2006 - Intermittent cam sensor fault, P0341, 16725 #

Engine Size and Code *: 2.0 BKD
( Optional ) Scanner Used: VCDS
( Optional) Fault Codes: P0341 - 16725

Hi All

Vehicle in yesterday with code present. Customer informed us that Cam sensor was recently replaced after intermittent CEL and limp mode.
Cleared codes and test drove.
Fault returned, but with no CEL or apparent ill effects on drive, customer reports no issues since part was changed, no start / cold start issues. Torsion value ZERO +/-0.5

16725/P0341/000833 - Camshaft Position Sensor (G40): Implausible Signal

Possible Symptoms
Malfunction Indicator Light (MIL) active
Possible Causes
Wiring from/to Camshaft Position Sensor (G40) faulty
Camshaft Position Sensor (G40) faulty
Timing misaligned
Possible Solutions
Check Wiring from/to Camshaft Position Sensor (G40)
Check Camshaft Position Sensor (G40)
Check Timing

Any experience with this fault on the BKD?

Are you doing the code read at ignition on or engine running ?

Initially checked with engine running.
Key off, key on, and still present with just ignition on.

Can I ask why you have asked this ( out of interest ) ?

Is the scope picture ok?
Is crankshaft sensor ok?
Have you looked at cam/crank phase?

Craig,
as far as I am aware VW's haven't logged this fault with just the ignition on since the days of the MK3 Golf?
Check the crank sensor is working, I've seen this fault log when the Cam sensor is okay but there is no output from the crank sensor (G28).

As James post above, just to add that I have seen these log the wrong sensor in the past on this engine code.
